Fuel Efficient Cars

Choosing a fuel efficient car comes with two big advantages. Firstly, you will know that the emissions of your car are fewer than those with standard vehicles so you’ll be helping the environment. Secondly, fuel efficient cars simply use fuel more efficiently which will save you money in any case.

Buying a fuel efficient car doesn’t necessarily mean that you cannot get the car you want but you may find that buying a different model in a range you like will be more fuel efficient. In general terms fuel efficient cars will have lower emissions. It is still generally easier to buy new fuel efficient cars than second hand ones however that will probably change over time as more and more fuel efficient vehicles are released on to the market.

In very general terms smaller and lighter cars will be more fuel efficient than heavy and larger ones. But, bear in mind that the engine of the car must be able to drive the vehicle efficiently here as well otherwise even small and light cars can use their fuel inefficiently.

You can also spot the fuel efficiency of new cars more frequently nowadays as many new models will display a fuel economy label that tells you how fuel efficient a vehicle is. This label will show a ranking from A to G with A being the most fuel efficient and G being the least fuel efficient.

Many people also look at buying ‘hybrid’ cars that combine traditional and newer, more fuel efficient technology. This can be a good way of reaching a middle ground when you are looking at fuel efficiency.
